I’ve stayed in a lot of amazing hotels all over the planet, but Tongabezi Lodge in Zambia truly swept me off my feet. During my stay, I fell asleep listening to the hippos and woke up in a tree house with monkeys swinging on the nearby trees.
Elephants crossed the street at sunset, and we sat on a river raft and sipped tea as we watched crocodiles cruise down the river!
The biggest draw to the resort is closeness to Victoria Falls. You can take guided tours or book your own. I took a microlight flight over the falls, and it was one of the coolest things I have ever done in my life.

The rooms are tucked away in the jungle, and the showers are private with a view of the surrounding landscape. If you book for Valentine’s Day, you’ll get treated to a delicious dessert and an amazing dinner!

Ventana Big Sur

On my California coast road trip, I stopped off at Ventana Big Sur, a woodsy-chic resort right off the Pacific Coast Highway, for a few days of relaxation. It’s a luxury resort that features 60 guestrooms, two outdoor pools and all the bells and whistles you’d expect.
