I’ve been saying it for years, but couples who travel together stay together. You learn a lot about each other and how well you work together as a team — especially when things go wrong.
But instead of traveling to an all-inclusive resort – go somewhere a bit more adventurous. Whether it’s an expedition to Antartica, skydiving in New Zealand or getting your scuba diving qualification together — there are countless adventures around the world that will make your heart skip in a beat.

Explore Iceland
Attention, adventure loving couples! There is no place better than Iceland to have the outdoor adventure of your dreams.
Few places can match the natural beauty of Iceland. With glaciers, volcanoes, and the famous Northern Lights, Iceland will take your breath away at every turn.
A destination in and of itself, you have got to experience the Ion Hotel in Iceland. Known for its incredible views of the Northern Lights, this eco-friendly hotel has an otherworldly beauty and is the perfect place to base yourself for a romantic adventure in Iceland!

Lion Sands Ivory Lodge and Treehouses
Go on Safari in South Africa
Since moving to South Africa, I absolutely love getting outside of Cape Town to experience the country’s magical safari destinations. The Lion Sands Ivory Lodge and Treehouses in Sabi Sand Game Reserve is easily one of the most romantic destinations on the planet. I also love Royal Malewane for a luxurious adventure!
You and your beau can explore the African bush together and experience some world-class pampering while lions roar in the distance!

Get an Adrenaline Rush in New Zealand
Skydive, jump off a bridge on a BMX bike, dive with sharks at Osprey Reef, or tackle the rapids at Tully River to get your heart racing with the person who stole it. With so many adventures to be had in New Zealand, it’s no wonder that Queenstown has been dubbed “The Adventure Capital of the World!”

Swim with Sharks in French Polynesia
French Polynesia is well-known for romance, but it’s also amazing for adventurous couples! I’ve actually visited on two occasions but, for my 30th birthday, my boyfriend and I took a trip to Bora Bora and fell in love all over again!
Swim with sharks in Rangiroa, jet ski in Bora Bora, or surf Teahupoʻo in Tahiti!

Go on a Liveaboard Trip Together
If you two love scuba diving, you can’t miss the opportunity to go on a liveaboard trip together. You can experience the beauty of the underwater world (and have the excuse to take a digital detox together!).
I went scuba diving in Raja Ampat with the Samambaia Liveaboard and it was a once in a lifetime experience.
If you both aren’t PADI certified yet, you can use the trip as the perfect excuse to get your qualification. There are tons of liveaboard trips to choose from that sail past some of the world’s top diving sites!

Hike Around Cinque Terre
The Via dell’Amore (or Path of Love, in English) in the Italian Riviera has captured the heart of countless lovers. Unfortunately, since a flood a few years back, it’s not quite in perfect condition.
Instead, I’d recommend the nearby Blue Path or the High Path. Both have a beautiful view of the Italian Riviera. The High Path is a bit more strenuous but is also quieter.

Akumal, Mexico
Explore Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula
Did you hear that the world’s largest underwater cave system was discovered in Mexico? This impressive spot covers a whopping 216 miles!
For beach bums and divers alike, Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula is the ultimate romantic adventure destination. Spend your vacation swimming with whale sharks in Isla Holbox, snorkeling with sea turtles in Akumal, or diving Mexico’s cenotes.

Ride a Hot Air Balloon
What’s more romantic than a hot air balloon ride? Of course, for destinations, there is the iconic Cappadocia in Turkey. But, what about a hot air balloon safari?
Seeing Kenya and Namibia from above will take your breath away.
Change your perspective for a totally romantic and adventurous experience!
Road Trip Through Namibia
Prefer to keep your feet on the ground? Ditch the balloon and hit the wide open road!
Namibia is unlike any other destination in the world. With the wind in your hair, you can explore one of Africa’s most fascinating destinations on a road trip that will take you past shipwrecks, arid landscapes, giant sand dunes and the wildlife of Etosha National Park.

Watch the Northern Lights
Another adventurous and romantic experience for couples is seeing the Northern Lights together. Plan your romantic rendezvous over the winter months in Europe and travel to Iceland, Finland, or Sweden.
If you don’t want to hop onto a transatlantic flight, head north to Canada or Alaska!

Book an Antartica Cruise
Two weeks with no internet? Long nights sipping hot chocolate under the stars?
Take your S.O. to the end of the world on a cruise to the Antartica! You’ll set sail from Argentina and travel to the land of icebergs bigger than buildings, gigantic colonies of penguins and explore a part of the world that most people won’t see in their lifetime.
Sail Around the World Together
What’s more epic and romantic than hopping into a sailboat and setting off for the horizon? Being in a cozy space like a boat is perfect for reconnecting and going on adventures that you’ll be talking about for years to come.
