  1. Those are some good tips but those are pretty much ignored also by seasoned travelers and tavelers with family. It’s good to know those rules to avoid any issues while traveling. I travel with my family and it’s been 10 years and I have been following every rule I can to keep the family safe to have a great time while traveling.

    • Thanks for sharing Marc- I definitely agree!

Thank you so much for all your articles about solo traveling! I’ve always been pretty independent, but this year I’m taking some long trips alone (to Italy and Peru) for the first time. I’m confident about transportation and getting around, but I’m worried about the down time and feeling lonely in those moments. Your advice really helps.
I’m wondering about your phone – I’m guessing you have an international plan since you travel so much, but do you have advice on either making my US phone work overseas, or if it’s better to just buy a temporary phone once I land in Italy?

    • You’re welcome! I have unlocked iPhone and T-Mobile unlimited global plan. So if you want to make your US phone work overseas, for the most part you’ll need an unlocked phone, because in Europe you need to get a SIM card for each country. If you’ll be in one place, I’d buy a local SIM card as soon as you get there!

You can filter your search for homes with a pool or something pet-friendly or kid-friendly to find your perfect home away from home.
