Is the safety and travel info most likely still pretty up to date? I’m planning a Yucutan Peninsula trip in August and my family is making me nervous about the safety aspect. Also, you mention traveling with colectivo or other solo female travelers (may have been on your other Yucutan page)…how did you connect with them for travel?

    • Hi Olivia! Yes, I would say that all this information is still up to date 🙂 As with any destinations, use your street smarts, but I love the Yucatan area. Another great way to get around is the bus system if you’re worried about transportation 🙂

        Hi Kiersten,

Are the bus shuttle/transfers to hotels/resorts safe. For instance Canada transfer or USA transfers?
They cost about $50-60 for a round trip, but I wouldn’t mind forking the money for safety. Thanks!!

Love this post!! Great ideas for a future mexico trip. How comfortable did you feel traveling in this region as a solo female traveler compared to other regions? I am planning my first solo trip and having trouble deciding where to go. I would really love to do mexico and some other countries in central/south america, however on a previous trip to central america with a boyfriend there were times I definitely felt uncomfortable (cat calls etc) which concerns me traveling alone. I have been to southeast asia a few times and I never felt unsafe in this region but feel like its time for me to explore some other places!
