I stayed in a hotel near Termini Station almost 8 years ago (I gagged typing that – I can’t believe it’s been that long), and, I have to say, I was really happy that I did. Almost every bus route ends there, so when I was about town exploring the city, I was able to hop on a bus and get back to the hotel with much ease. As long as you know the walking route from the station to your hotel, you are golden. (To be sure – check what buses end at Termini before you go or on your first trip to the station. After that, you’ll be traveling the city like a pro.)
A word of warning though, public transport can get really crowded and people are not afraid to push up against you. This is a prime situation for a pickpocket looking to snag a person’s wallet, phone, etc. Keep your bag/purse/whatever in front of you and closed shut. I carried a crossbody travel purse, and I always made sure to keep it in my site when taking the bus or metro.
Love your blog, Kiersten! I love following your awesome adventures around the world. 🙂
