my husband and i went to croatia for 3 weeks for our honeymoon in 2014… blown away, one of the most beautiful places either one of us has ever seen. if you find yourself going back and haven’t check it out yet, i highly recommend heading to Lopud island. it was about an hour away on the jadrolinija ferry and is amazing! best part… the island does not allow any cars at all!

    • Thank you for sharing! So happy you had a great experience 🙂

    Hey there!
My friend and I are planning our trip to Croatia, and we are having a hard time deciding on our transportation means. Is it better to rent a car and drive ourselves around the country or should we takes buses and ferries?
We’re open to both but are wondering how to get to certain smaller towns that might not have direct bus routes. How did you get around and did you find it difficult to get to some areas?
    Thanks

    • It definitely depends on where you’re traveling– if you’re focusing on the islands then I don’t think a car is necessary, but if you want to explore the northern regions like Istria, I would recommend a car. The road tolls can be a bit pricey so be prepared for those if you’re driving yourself!
