  1. These are great tips! I only recently learned of people bringing their own mini alcohol on long flights…had never thought of that! But the real question is, how do I bring my own wine?

I always fly with an eye mask now as I have difficulty sleeping if there is ANY ambient light, either from the windows or from entertainment systems. Earplugs could be good too in case of crying babies…

Also, be sure to bring all medications in their original containers. Not only will TSA know that these items were prescribed for you but in case there is a medical emergency, you have your medications handy. I also put a copy of all meds and what they are for in my suitcase and carryon bag
Make copies of your passport and put in your suitcase and leave a copy at home with a trusted person.
Know where the nearest US Embassy is located.
ALWAYS buy insurance for your trip; you never know when an emergency will happen and you will have to cancel or cut your trip short.

Or you can just take photos of your passport/visa and other pertinent papers and either email to yourself or keep handy on your phone for quicker access!
