  1. Hi!

If you don’t mind me asking: what program did you use to create your map in this post? I’ve been looking for something like it for a while now so I can map out the routes I’ve taken on my trip!

Cheers 🙂 Hope you’re enjoying the sunny SoCal weather… rainy days here in Auckland 🙁

Hey Kilee! I use TravellersPoint.com. It’s an awesome resource for mapping your travels and planning out a trip.

      • Yay! Thanks gurl, I’ll check it out 🙂

HI! My husband and I are actually looking into a trip like this! Is there an updated post of your entire trip? What the trains were like, the cost of something like this, where to stop along the way, etc? This trip seems so amazing!

    • I didn’t write about the final outcome of the trip, but my friend Matt has a great write-up outlining the cost and benefits of the Eurail trip: http://www.nomadicmatt.com/travel-blogs/eurail-passes-breakdown/

For me, I wouldn’t do it again. I do think train travel CAN be cheaper and better than flying in certain situations. You just need to do your research. Typically I am such a last minute planner a Eurail pass doesn’t make sense for me. With so many discount airlines in Europe, I find hopping distant countries to be less expensive. Then, I’ll use regional trains to get from city to city or to a neighboring country.

      Hope that helps!

Here’s the secret—@homeexchangecom. It’s a social network where you swap homes with fellow travelers, whether it’s an apartment or a house.

While we stayed in a gorgeous, centrally located apartment in Manhattan to celebrate the holiday season, our guests enjoyed a sunny winter in Southern California while staying in our cozy home. It’s a win-win!

No expensive hotel stays, no home sitters needed. Home exchange saves you thousands by giving you a free place to stay in someone else’s home.

You can filter your search for homes with a pool or something pet-friendly or kid-friendly to find your perfect home away from home.

We left a little welcome basket and some local travel tips for our guests to make it extra special for them.

So whether it’s a modern apartment in the city or a beach house getaway, this travel hack can make your dream vacation a reality.

I highly recommend staying a night or 2 at @themanor_house in The Cotswolds.

It’s located in the tiny, picturesque village of Castle Combe—one of my favorite stops of our trip.

We had the entire village to ourselves early in the morning and at sunset which was so magical!
