i love to drive these old cars, but are they really in shape to drive from Havana to Pigs Bay for a day or to Coral Beach and Saturn Cave? Do i need international driving license? What about a car insurance? what would be the expected cost to rent one of them for a day? Also, can you recommend a casa in Havana to stay in, thanks

    • Hi babe! Yes, you need to take our car insurance when you rent the car and you’ll need an international driver’s license. It’s best to check with a car hire company in Havana for up to date prices 🙂

Thank you for this article. I’m going to Cuba soon with my girlfriend and we wanted to rent a classic car for 4 days, now I know that would cost us a fortune haha, but we’ll probably rent it for a couple hours! Thank you

Definitely not cheap but glad you found information that could help ya out! Have the best time in Cuba!!

Hey Adam, the owners of these classic cars in Cuba normally don’t rent them without a driver. They are a family treasure! So I guess you will need to hire a car + the driver.

… and the rides do not cost a fortune!!! Regular price should be 10-15 cuc per hour of ride inside Havana (these are normally in convertibles). Convertibles don’t use to go outside Havana or Varadero.

But there are other non-convertible classic cars for rides outside Havana. The price should be between 120 – 150 cuc, for a private driver + car with all driver expenses included.

You can checkout this website: https://yotellevocuba.com/en

Particularly the Customers Reviews page shows the drivers’ profiles and pictures and you can see their classic cars and which one you like most. You can contact the drivers for prices.

So, hope you are lucky with one of these classic cars and that you enjoy your ride a lot!

Wow, lots of great info—thanks for sharing, Martin!
