This is Day 1 of our 10-Day New England Fall road trip with a toddler series! I’ll be sharing everything we planned, loved, and skipped (but would be worth visiting with more time)!

We started the trip by checking into @thepresshotel in Portland, Maine—you can’t beat the location. We mostly stuck to exploring the Old Port and walkable destinations.

A huge part of any Portland tip is the food!

We managed to enjoy @holydonutmaine (made from potatoes!) and @highrollerlobsterco—of which I both HIGHLY recommend.

TIP: You can make a to-go order for High Roller online to avoid the massive queue — 10/10 recommend the 4oz lobster roll with lobster ghee and jalapeño mayo. Drool!

I would’ve loved to stop at a few more local favorites if we had more time (and space in our bellies):

🦆 @duckfatmaine

We popped our heads into one of the local fisheries and did some window shopping before Ollie’s FAVORITE activity of the day: @portlandfiretours!

You can enjoy a ride on a vintage fire truck and take in the sights and a little history of Portland and its various neighborhoods. This is a must with or without kids as you’re able to see a lot quickly!

You could also opt for a lobster boat or schooner tour—a lot of you recommended this.

And we ended the day at Portland Head Light historic lighthouse. It was commissioned by George Washington and was completed on January 10, 1791.

It’s not featured in the video, but we had dinner at @twelvemaine and it was SO good. It’s definitely fine dining, so might not be a great fit for all young kiddos, but Oliver absolutely smashed his steak!

Stay tuned for Day 2 where I’ll share one of the BEST kid-friendly stops on our entire trip (as well as a personal favorite brewery of mine! 🍻

Ever wonder what my go-to camera is for travel and capturing those unforgettable moments with my little one? 🎥✨

Say hello to the SONY ZV-E10 II! 👋 As a busy mom running a travel business (and often on the road with a toddler in tow), I need a camera that’s lightweight, high-quality, and easy to use while on the move.

What I love about this camera? The vertical info display makes shooting Instagram reels SO easy, and the Creative Look Styles let me get those picture-perfect shots without any post-editing.

I recently brought it to Maui and captured amazing high-quality photos and cinematic videos. And the interchangeable lenses are a total game changer. I always have my 16-50mm zoom lens for versatility and a 35mm for that dreamy film-style vibe.

Plus, with Sony’s wireless shooting grip, I have everything I need right at my fingertips—whether I’m vlogging on the go or setting up hands-free shots. It’s the ultimate content creation setup!
