As empowered women, we look up to other women in our lives – whether it’s our mom, our friends, our peers or our mentors. These women play a crucial role in our every day lives and help to inspire us to be confident women.
I recently wrote an article about the SCA all-female racing team, Team SCA, that have come from all walks of life and backgrounds to take on one of the world’s most challenging endeavors, the Volvo Ocean Race. These women are currently competing by sailing for nine months around the world.
Their journey of hard work and determination is not only inspiring to me, but to millions of others.
To champion the strength and courage of Team SCA, SCA has launched Amazing Women Everywhere, a digital photo mosaic to celebrate women who have a positive impact on others.
As part of my contribution to the mosaic, I wanted to honor my mother for being the most influential woman in my life. I’ve always thought it would be both challenging and terrifying to raise a daughter, let alone someone as strong willed and fiery as me. Yet she has loved me unconditionally and has encouraged me to follow my dreams ever since I was a little girl.
Her strength encourages me and her selflessness inspires me.
Every person’s life has a story and my mom’s story has many chapters. She’s been a good friend and a loving mother, wife, sister and grandmother. And she’s survived cancer.
She’s my one true love.
SCA has gathered thousands of stories from all over the world and inspired thousands more by illustrating that amazing women truly are everywhere.
