Thank you for the insightful post. Lovely pictures as well. Do you have drone insurance for liability and if so do you ming sharing? Have you had any close run ins with your drone?

Hi Chase! My apologies for the late reply, this comment got buried. I have travel insurance but there might be other specific insurances you need for certain areas. And absolutely. I got my drone confiscated in Egypt — I got super lucky and got it back (after waiting and pleading for nearly 8 hours) but most other folks aren’t so lucky. I definitely would NOT recommend.

Super helpful overview! I’m looking to invest in a drone for our fall trip to Greece and Portugal. I was debating between the Mavic Mini and the Mavic Air. While I like the Mini from a price and size standpoint, it seems to have a less good camera and you can’t shoot in RAW. Would you recommend investing in the Air over the Mini?

Hi Emma! It really depends what you’re planning on using the drone/photos for. I’m in the camp that would opt for going with one that can shoot in RAW as you’ll get more flexibility with your photo and can be better for professional-quality imagery, but if you’re just shooting for personal use, you don’t necessarily need to pay for the added ability. Totally up to you, budget, and personal preference!
