I recently had the pleasure of staying at Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, and let me tell you, it’s a slice of paradise you don’t want to miss.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Maui’s gorgeous beaches, this resort offers a blend of elegance and family-friendly fun.
From world-class dining and exciting activities perfect for all ages to Hawaiian-themed luxury rooms and top-notch amenities, this Four Seasons Resort truly has it all.
Here’s a glimpse into what makes Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea a top pick for your next Hawaiian escape!
Wailea
Getting There
You will fly into Kahului Airport (OGG), the main airport in Maui. It takes around 25 – 30 minutes to get to the resort from the airport and it is a pretty straight run. There are a couple of options you can choose from to get to the resort from the airport.
- Rental Car: We opted to rent a car, which I’d recommend if you plan to leave the hotel and explore beyond Wailea!
- Private Transfer and Shuttle Bus: The Concierge can arrange car transfers to and from the airport at an additional cost. Once you arrive, you can use the complimentary shuttle bus from the resort around Wailea to beaches, luaus, golf courses, restaurants and more. This is also a great option if you’ve rented a car but plan to have a few drinks out one night.
Helpful Tip:
Services & Amenities
While the resort isn’t all-inclusive, it has TONS amenities and offerings. And you’ll be happy to know there is no resort fee!
In-Room Dining: Breakfast in bed or a picnic on the beach – they’ll deliver an exceptional Maui dining experience to you whenever you want.
Photo Ambassador: Capture special moments with your loved ones through the complimentary resort photographer. The photographer is also an excellent guide for finding the most picture-perfect spots across the resort.
Premium Gym Facilities: You are truly spoiled for choice when it comes to getting your workout in! Stay fit at the open-air cardio room, pedal on the Peloton bikes, join a Reformer pilates or yoga class, or hit the weights room.
Three Pools: The Waterfall Pool is a family favorite, featuring a small waterslide and a section just for toddlers—great for keeping the little ones entertained. If you’re just coming from the beach and want a quick dip, the Fountain Pool is your closest option. But if you’re after something more exclusive, the adults-only Serenity Pool is where you’ll want to be.
Pro tip: Be sure to snag pool & beach chairs or a cabana early, as they can fill up fast! If you arrive at the beach early, there is staff to help set up chairs and umbrellas.
Beach and pool service: The resort offers complimentary water, reef-safe sunscreen, and towels, with attendants making their rounds to treat you with refreshing drinks and small bites throughout the day. It’s the little things that make lounging by the pool even better!
Kids for all Seasons program: Traveling with kids? The complimentary, year-round Kids for All Seasons program for kids aged 5 to 12 offers a variety of fun games, activities, crafts and more to keep them entertained all day long.
Babysitting: The Four Seasons partners with Nanny Connection to provide babysitting services to guests at an additional charge. The resort works with the same nannies time and time again, so rest assured your little ones are in good hands.
The Location
The Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea is ideally located for soaking in the sun and visiting stunning beaches, as this side of the island tends to have better weather. The opposite side of the island, where you can drive The Road to Hana, is a rainforest that naturally gets more rain.
The resort is just a 15-minute walk from both Wailea Beach and Polo Beach, with Keawakapu Beach and Maluaka Beach only a 5-minute drive away.
If you plan to hit the golf course, three of the island’s finest golf courses are just a 5-minute drive away. Or if shopping and dining is more your style, The Shops at Wailea is just a short drive away, featuring luxury boutiques, local art galleries, and top-notch restaurants.

From the moment you arrive at Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, you’re welcomed with a traditional Hawaiian lei greeting, setting the tone for a truly unforgettable stay in paradise.
The resort offers luxury accommodations that beautifully blend modern elegance with Hawaiian charm. Choose from rooms with garden, mountainside, or ocean views, but if you’re looking to treat yourself, the Club Floor rooms and the residential-style “Complete Suites” offer the ultimate indulgence.
We stayed in a deluxe ocean-view room on the Club Level, and I highly recommend upgrading. With Club Level access, you get exclusive entry to the Club Lounge, complimentary breakfast, snacks, afternoon tea, and a selection of wine and cocktails.
No matter which room you choose, expect exceptional comfort, thoughtful touches, and fantastic service throughout your stay.
Dining
One of the highlights of staying at Four Seasons Resort Maui is the incredible dining options, and we had the chance to try them all!
DUO: Start your day with the breakfast buffet at DUO, which is out of this world. With plenty of fresh fruits, pastries, eggs and made-to-order options, it’s the perfect way to fuel up before heading to the beach.
Lobby Lounge: The Lobby Lounge was a hit for us, especially with our toddler. There’s live music and often hula dancers. It’s a much more casual dining area so you can relax and little ones can roam around instead of sitting at a table.
Ferraro’s: This restaurant has incredible sunset views and delicious Italian food. On the menu, you can choose from wood-fired pizzas, pasta, seafood and more. If you’re a fan of martinis, you must try their pasta water martini—it’s something special!
Spago: Another amazing spot for sunset views and fine dining. Their seafood is super fresh and delicious! I highly recommend the spicy tuna cones to start and their seafood curry, which they’re famous for!
Activities & Experiences on Maui
From poolside lounging to adrenaline-pumping excursions, there’s something for everyone—and you don’t even have to leave the resort (unless you want to)!
Daily Activities: There is a range of complimentary daily activities! You can also try your hand at croquet, take a leisurely ride on one of the resort’s electric bikes, or go snorkeling or paddleboarding.
Relax by the pool: Lounge by the pool in style! Relax on a cabana, chill on a chaise lounge, and perhaps even treat yourself to poolside mini-spa services. Plus, the poolside food and beverage service covers you for snacks and drinks without leaving your sunbed.
Water Sports: Get out on the water with a jet ski, catamaran cruise, or private surf lessons.
Premiere Luau: Discover Hawaiian culture through interactive storytelling, traditional dishes, and handcrafted cocktails. It’s the perfect night for the whole family. There are a few popular dinner luaus on the island!
Golfing & Topgolf: Head to one of Maui’s top courses, or if you prefer something more laid-back, hit up the Topgolf Swing Suite for some virtual swings without leaving the resort.
Adventure Tours: Feeling adventurous? Sign up for a helicopter tour to see Maui from above or go ziplining through Hawaiian landscapes.
Kids Experiences
One of the best parts of staying at Four Seasons Resort Maui is the amazing kids’ programs that keep the little ones entertained while parents get some time to unwind! Our 2-year-old loved all the activities, we would definitely go back!
Kids for All Seasons: This complimentary, year-round program is designed for kids aged 5 to 12, offering a variety of games, activities, crafts, and more.
Custom Family Itineraries: The Concierge team can create a personalized itinerary for your family, from beachside picnics to private dinners overlooking the ocean.
Night Events: The themed night events, like Spy Academy, Pajama Jam, and Crab Hunt, are perfect for keeping the kids entertained while parents enjoy a quiet dinner.
Seasonal Camp Manitou: The Camp Manitou program is a fantastic way for older kids to make new friends and enjoy an activity-packed trip. It’s also the perfect opportunity for parents to unplug and recharge on their own!
Light the Night: In a fun nod to Hawaiian tradition, little ones can join the torchbearer as they race around the resort, lighting over 50 torches in a nightly ritual.
Sustainability Program: The new Kids for All Seasons sustainability program is a great way to learn more about nature. With weekly Chef’s Garden Club meetings, hands-on seed planting, and seasonal produce harvesting, kids can actively participate in eco-friendly activities.
Tropical Pickleball Showdown: For a bit of family-friendly competition, the round-robin pickleball tournament is a great option.
Sustainability
At Four Seasons Resort Maui, sustainability is at the heart of everything.
From eliminating single-use plates, cutlery, and cups to using refillable bathroom amenities made from 100% recycled plastics, they’re all about reducing waste and helping those in need.
Want to give back? Join in on a Shoreline Marine Debris Monitoring or Blue Āina Reef Cleanup and help protect Maui’s beautiful beaches. As a thank you, you’ll receive USD 250 resort credit.
In My Opinion
Overall, I can confidently say the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea is a destination you’ll return to year after year—especially if you have kids!
The resort strikes the perfect balance between luxury and family-friendly fun, making it easy to relax while keeping the little ones entertained. Whether you’re after endless activities or just looking to relax, this place has everything you need for an unforgettable Hawaiian escape.
