Ballard, is another must see while in Seattle, if you have access to a car or take a bus. It is home to the Ballard Locks, where Salmon swim upstream for spawning via a fish ladder that was cleverly designed as part of the lock system. Weekends are a good time to boat watch as there are some fabulous watercraft that are docked on Lake Union. Take a picnic and stroll the grounds adjacent to the locks for a relaxing lunchtime.
Author JA Jance calls Seattle home part of the year, spending the other part in Arizona. Her JP Beaumont series is located in Seattle and those familiar with her novels enjoy spotting local landmarks called out in her books.
Numerous day trips around the Puget Sound might convince you to spend more than a weekend in the Seattle area. Skagit Valley is home to a fabulous tulip festival every spring, and Snoqualomie Falls are a refreshing hike to the falls in the ‘heat’ of summer. Plus, there are a couple of good sports venues in Seattle if the Mariners, or Seahawks are playing. I’m looking forward to going back.

Hi Cynthia! Thanks for the notes — all of that sounds amazing. I’ve heard the Ballard Locks are really cool 🙂
