Hi! Thanks for sending Hong’s info. I’ve been chatting with her on Whatsapp and she is very helpful so far.

One question I had for you is how she handles payment and confirmation of a booking or reservation with her. Given everyone’s comments it seems like she is extremely reliable, but I just want to make sure we have some sort of official booking and payment system before going. Thanks!

Hi Mihir! Hong is an individual and not an official tour company, so you might find some of the systems aren’t how you would traditionally handle things. Unfortunately, I don’t work for her and she is just an individual so you’ll have to trust in whatever system she gives you. It’s been many many years since I went to visit her and my intention was to share my experience on who I went with and her contact details. However, in the years that have followed, there have been a number of TBA readers that have stayed with her and had a wonderful experience. I hope that provides some more insight!

Thanks so much for this recommendation Kiersten!
Kiersten sent me Hong’s details, and after texting with her directly she told me she now has a homestay in Sapa where she offers tours as well. We stayed with her for 2 nights/3 days and it was fantastic. Hong, her Dutch husband and three children are so warm and welcoming. The homestay is comfortable and clean. We were always well fed and our trips around Sapa were unforgettable. Hong is a special woman who has built an amazing life for herself. Lucky to have met her.
    Highly recommend! Thanks again Kiersten
