Glamping at Pfeiffer Big Sur with Hipcamp

As a native Californian, I grew up camping. It’s what we did as a family. We packed up the car with a tent, lots of snacks and hit the road to one of California’s amazing state parks.

My friend Sara Libby and I decided to take a California coast road trip up the Pacific Coast Highway and spend a couple nights camping… well, glamping. (Our own version of glamorous camping- complete with donuts and candles.)

Basically, how all camping should be.

I recently discovered Hipcamp where I was able to search for the best campsites in California. They provide tons of information on the type of campsites at each park, activities and lots of helpful tips.

We picked out Pfeiffer Big Sur as our first night’s stop because of its beautiful campsites and ideal location along the Pacific Coast Highway. As we entered the campsite, we waited patiently while deer navigated across the road. Trees towered over tents and a bridge crossed a small creek.

It was beautiful!

In true “glamping” spirit, we pitched our tent in dresses and set up our campsite like something out of a Free People catalog. Even we were impressed with how everything turned out.

I’m looking at scheduling a big sur camping event for ladies in June of 2016 (prob 24-26th). First off, would you want to come ? Secondly do you have any tips ??

Our blog instead of categories divides everything into 4 personas; the Creative, the Adventurer, the Sweetheart, and the Fashionista. We want to try and host events every month of 2016 the biggest being this road trip. Our audience is all ladies so it would be fun having a touch of femininity to our camping trip 🙂

A little late sharing this — but I needed time to sit with 2025. It was so much more than what made it to Instagram.

This was the year I stopped measuring life in miles traveled… and started measuring it in the days we weren’t promised.

Not in passport stamps.
Not in hotel check-ins.
Not in how far we could go.

But in the quiet relief of “clear.”
In small hands squeezing mine tighter.
In birthday candles and quiet camping mornings.
In laughter that came back after fear.

2025 was the plot twist year.

The year I learned strength doesn’t look like control —
it looks like surrender.
It looks like showing up anyway.
It looks like choosing joy even when you know how fragile it is.

And it looks like being surrounded by the people who love us most.

We traveled the world.
But more importantly —
we celebrated what we almost lost.

And at the end of it all?
We packed up our life and chose a new continent. 🇿🇦

2025, you were heavy.
You were also beautiful.
You changed me.

2026 — I’m ready.
