Croatia is easily one of my favorite destinations. It is home to rugged coastlines, stunning lakes and forests, fascinating history, amazing wine, and delicious sea-to-table cuisine.

Looking for the ultimate sailing getaway? A food and wine escape? A spa retreat? Croatia has it all.

I first visited Croatia a few years ago and loved it so much, I moved there for a season! I got to experience Croatia’s unique culture firsthand, Krka National Park and Plitvice Lakes, and also go sailing on the beautiful seas in my first ever The Yacht Week Croatia.

I was lucky enough to return just last year to the beautiful peninsula region of Istria and even got to stay the night in Porer Lighthouse. Nestled in the northwest corner of Croatia, Istria is a heaven for foodies and vacationers everywhere. It is a rich blend of Italian and Slavic heritages, mountainous inlands, and stunning rocky beaches.

People all over the world flock to the region to sample gnocchi, prosciutto, scampi, sweet wines, and the world-famous truffles.

Fantastic photos of such a beautiful country. Croatia has been my home the past 3 summers whilst I’ve worked on the sail boats as a tour guide! I can’t get enough of the beauty, culture, history, sea and architecture!

Love the Sound of Music? What if I told you that you can visit the real Von Trapp family’s lodge from the famed musical starring Julie Andrews in the quiet town of Stowe, Vermont?

Day 7 of my Autumn New England Road Trip (with a toddler) started the day by driving through Smuggler’s Notch—it’s a short and super windy drive through a mountain pass that’s seriously beautiful.

Helpful Tip: Get started on the drive as easy as possible. Traffic is notorious during foliage season so we hit the road at 7am and had it to ourselves!

We then spent the entire day exploring nature trails and hanging with animals at @trappfamilylodge, an Austrian-inspired mountain lodge with 300 acres of farmland in the middle of Stowe.

The Von Trapps, made famous from the movie The Sound of Music, fled Austria during WWII and ultimately landed in Stowe, VT where their hospitality lives on today. Did you know the Sound of Music is one of the top 10 highest-grossing films of all time??

Had we had a little more time, we also would have added:
