  1. Some great tips here! Most of my travels over the last few years have been with my partner, and I’ve actually found doing it the right way, can in fact be cheaper than travelling solo! Bonus! You get to travel more for the same price!

Although, we’ll both usually take luggage for longer trips, we take advantage of kitchens to cook some nights, we also find that a basic hotel or airbnb is often cheaper per night per head than a hostel bed, and usually a lot more comfortable. Another tip for if you’re really trying to keep the costs down, is that in many places, drinks with a meal can often cost a significant proportion of the meal, so we will order say 1 small bottle of water between the two of us – just enough to get us through the meal, and pick up further drinks on the way!

Also my last tip, is look out for 2 for 1 offers, they are more common than you think if you travel on the right days and during the right times, and can mean you effectively pay 50% of a standard ticket each!

  2. Great tips, me and my partner travel together and we definitely find sharing a suitcase and toiletries and not drinking the best way to save money! When we were in Rome some restaurants offered a free glass of champagne or wine to entice you in so we took full advantage of that instead!
