  1. this is a fantastic post! the one thing i regret the most about schooling myself was NOT studying abroad. not that i didnt want to but i didnt realize the benefits or how to do it myself w/out my parents help. lucky for me i live in norway now…where there is free university 😉 i might just have to get another masters or something to say that i finally got my chance to study abroad!

Thanks Megan! What an awesome opportunity to be able to study in Norway! I think there’s a big misconception that it is really expensive or it holds you back in school. I couldn’t take much time off because I had to work but I think most students could afford to take a month of their Summer just to try out the experience 🙂

      • agreed! my best friend did a month off to study in spain years back (language study) and said it was the best experience of her life. i wish more teenagers and young college students would be encouraged to do the same…and actually use the opportunity as a chance to learn not just the language or whatever they are studying, but also the culture 🙂 hopefully you will inspire some to do so! great blog…love reading!

  2. Hi,

I started traveling thanks to the ERASMUS (European exchange study program) seven years ago and didn’t stop anymore.

However many of my fellows just went back to their respective countries after our year in France finished.

For this reason I think point six (Is long-term travel right for you?) is so important.

You must discover if you really like longterm traveling or just go ten days abroad on your summer holidays

    Nice blog ; )

My roommate was incredibly home sick while I could’ve moved to Spain permanently. It’s a great trial run for travel. Definitely!

Did anyone else catch the dusting of snow in the Cotswolds?! I couldn’t believe my eyes!

We had a week of perfect sunny weather with only one afternoon of rain (also so unexpected for November!) and, on my last morning in Bibury, I woke up to this incredible scene!
