I was wondering how you carry your camera gear on the plane?
I’m having a hard time figuring out how to carry on a small tripod. My initial plan was to carry on my regular backpack and use my camera bag as my personal item, saving money so I won’t have to check anything. But if I add in a travel tripod, I’m not sure what to do with it. Do you check your baggage? I will be doing a solo trip around the world in June, so the tripod is necessary. Also, do you find your 13 inch laptop big enough to edit photos/video on? Thanks a bunch and love your site! 🙂

Hey Sheri! So I absolutely love this Case Logic Backpack. It has straps on the side for your tripod, a compartment for your laptop, and it also suspends your camera so it has impact protection.
My 13″ is honestly as big of a laptop as I’d travel with. It’s already heavy enough with so much camera equipment that I think something bigger would be impractical for the way I travel.
This is what I use as my carry-on bag when I travel. I use the front pocket for my carry-on liquids and little extras and usually have 1-2 extra lens compartments for snacks and my other carry-on goodies.
Hope that helps!

Thank you so much! It does help! I appreciate you taking the time to answer. I take it you check your main bag then… I guess I can’t get around that if I bring a tripod. I was hoping to find some magical solution and carry on everything. Those baggage fees can add up on an ATW trip. Thanks again!

Do you use the same Case Logic bag when you’re exploring places? Or do you have a smaller bag and just carry your camera around your neck?
E.g. when you go to beaches do you carry the backpack with you? Thanks!
